Tixati constantly 'not repsonding' Windows 8.1 - help a newbie

by Guest on 2014/02/06 12:50:07 PM
My brand new Windows 8.1 laptop has Tixati (no other program) constantly not responding. Every 20 seconds or so. It's making downloading very difficult. I love Tixati, it's so easy for a newbie like me to use but I just can't understand why this is happening.

It always woked fine on my old Windows 8 laptop so I'm wondering if there's a compatibility problem? I say I'm a newbie as the older I get the more difficult all this is for me. On my old laptop I just installed and it worked!

On the new one, if I press any of the buttons, say Files, DHT, Bandwith, it doesn't move, all it shows me is peers.

I've read this page on the forum but don't know what to do: http://forum.tixati.com/support/192/

Can anyone out there please help me?

Thanks in advance,
Lucie

I don't know Win 8 or Win 8.1.

But on my Win 7 - 64bit I found its improving the stability of running Tixati,
when in Task Manager I choose Tixati to run in "Above Normal" priority,
and set the Affinity of Tixati to CPU #3 only.
(It has 4 CPU's , numbering 0 - 1 - 2 - 3)

Have you tried running both the installer and the program loader in win 7 compatibility mode? Tell me if compat mode is there or not (Ubuntu user here...).

It happens on my 64bit Win7 too, which is why I switched to the web interface. Maybe it's because I've six thousands torrents in my Tixati queue.
