Tixati hanging on start...

by NoobNeutralizer on 2014/09/01 06:22:22 PM
I had the problem with 1.96, and it just started happening again with 1.98...

I try to open Tixati, and it hangs on "Loading core objects..."...

It will not proceed past that...

I am on Windows 8.1 Pro x64...

I'm also using the 64-bit version of Tixati...

Any ideas what's causing this and how to fix it?

Thank you...

Strange

How long does it hang?  If you let it go 10 minutes, will it eventually load?

Is there a torrent in your list with a huge amount of files or pieces?

Here's something you can try (but only do it if you are confident in your skills!)

In your file explorer, go to the tixati appdata folder (type %appdata% at the top of your file explorer, or go to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming, then find the tixati folder)

Then temporarily move out core.dat and core2.dat to your desktop.  See if Tixati now starts up faster (all your transfers will be missing, they are kept in the core files).

IMPORTANT: shut off tixati FULLY (from the tray menu>exit) before copying back the old core.dat and core2.dat, and maybe keep a backup of those files.

If it is indeed one of your transfers causing this, perhaps you can narrow down which one and email the .torrent to the developers so they can demonstrate the problem to fix it.

I'm almost home...
Was out running errands...

I left it running for about 15 minutes and it was still stuck on the splash screen...

I'll try moving those 2 files and see what happens...

The only 2 torrents I have loaded in it at the moment are both pretty large...
300GB+ (total size) and the other is a little over 100th (total size)...
I'm only downloading a few select files from each one...

It started up immediately after I moved the core.dat and core2.dat files...

You should email the two .torrent files to forum@tixati.com and they will forward them to the developers. They may be able to fix things up for the next release.

Or you could just post a link to the .torrent files in here (as a guest so it doesn't appear publicly right away) and the mods can send the links and delete the message from the moderation queue.

i find this problem when to happen (in my case):
i had a torrent that is more than 6GB of jpeg (huge) files that have several category of images
i marked one by one categories to download and after downloaded i marked next cat to download but i managed images !
i see images that i dont need them i removed by manually from HDD but in tixati shows this file is downloaded and is 100%
when i removed some images and after long time i stopped tixati and turn off my PC next day i see this problem and i guess this problem is when tixati wants to scan files that is exist on log file (DAT) but not exist on HDD

Developers could to catch a exception handler in this case

anyway i stay on Tixati and dont want to come back to utorrent that is a process leacher(BitCoin miner)

When loading your core.dat you should make sure Tixati doesn't have to fight for resources (RAM or disk access) for that time frame.
Because the procedure to load the settings goes like this:
1) run tixati executable
2) loads .dat files
3) unpacks .dat files to RAM and saves as .lastgoodload
4) Bring up GUI

The number of loaded transfers may delay this, as will the "checking" on load if you have "start previous transfers on startup" in Settings -> Transfers -> General
