Issue Report: Extremely slow network folder access in Pre-Downlo

by Guest on 2026/05/16 11:55:58 AM
I have been using version 3.19 without any issues. However, every version starting from 3.21 (and newer) causes performance problems when working with network drives:

- Opening network folders in the Pre-Download Transfer Configuration window takes an extremely long time (10+ seconds).
- it no longer remembers recently selected folders even the configuration is enabled.

Environment

Windows 11 Pro 24H2
Network drive hosted on Synology NAS connected via iSCSI

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use any version > 3.19.
2. Open a torrent file to trigger the Pre-Download Transfer Configuration window.
3. Click Local File Location → browse to a folder on network drive.
4. Expanding the directory tree becomes extremely slow (10+ seconds or more).

Additional Notes

The update news of 3.21 mentioned “new fully asynchronous file/folder pickers for Windows builds.” I suspect this change is the root cause of the problem.
