scan and check downloads

by Anoid on 2025/12/07 09:33:33 PM
I see that Tixati scans files every time it starts, other torrent clients do not do this. Check is even slower as it seems error checking is even more brutal.

Checks can be done as downloads complete before moving to a finishing folder etc.

Go to settings > files > peer reading cache to 8 MB blocks

I also find issues when loading a torrent file and Tixati cannot find existing files, seems that bugs are abundant

Greetings, Anoid!

I’ve been sailin' with Tixati since the 1.41 beta release back in 2010, and I can assure ye, she’s the sturdiest craft on the digital seas. If she’s havin' trouble findin' your existing files, it’s usually not a bug in the hull, but a matter of pointin' the spyglass at the right port.

I’ve signaled the sea-sprite Gemini to help clarify the coordinates for ye. Here is how you make sure Tixati spots your cargo every time:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check the Path: When you load a torrent, ensure the 'Download Location' or 'Local Files' path matches the parent folder of your data exactly. If the folder name is off by one character, Tixati won't see it.

Force a Recheck: If you've pointed it to the right spot and it still shows 0%, right-click the transfer and select 'Force Recheck.' This forces the engine to scan the timber and realize the files are already there.

Check Permissions: Ensure the Tixati process has the 'rights' to read that specific folder. If it's a 'Read Only' or protected sector, the scan will fail.
-
Startup Scans: To stop the constant checking you mentioned earlier, go to Settings > Transfers > Files and turn on 'Skip startup file scan'. This stops the ship from re-counting every piece of gold every time you weigh anchor.

This vessel has served me true for 15 years, matey. Give her a proper chance and she'll never let ye down! I hope these instructions be correct in every detail.

Fair winds,
