1) Free software, despite what media tells you, is not about some “feels”. It's a demand for users to not be exploited by software owners. Given that corporations doing exactly that are currently at the top of stock exchange lists, it hasn't lost any importance today.
2) You should actually become more worried when closed source program you use becomes open source. It's the moment when many possible old bugs can be discovered by new sets of hands. If you are unlucky, they might be dishonest.

Open source would build trust — not just emotionally, but through real audits and fixes. For a network-facing app like Tixati, some transparency is important.
Even just open-sourcing the CLI core (while keeping the GUI closed) could be a great middle ground.

I am honestly surprised that Tixati is proprietary considering that it advertises itself as "100% Free" and containing "NO Spyware and NO Ads".
From pictures and documentation Tixati seems like something I was searching for, but because it's closed source I cannot be sure that these promises about spyware hold up. It just seems to good to be true and I can't be sure what it's actually doing in the background.
I think many people would have similar reservations.
As I see it, the software as it is now would only benefit from being open sourced.
If the developer is worried about people stealing their work without credit or profiting off their free labor, then that's what copyleft licenses are for, right?
