If you don't have any problem, but assume that “more memory” equals “faster”, you got the Google® Chrome™ disease. They just pretend that a single Youtube page absolutely require grabbing 1+ GB of memory, and loading 100 MB of Javascript libraries tied to latest and greatest browser functions. In fact, it's just to get rid of competitors by setting the compatibility and development costs bar to the level of billion dollar corporations, and to control the users who sheepishly believe they have no choice left.
While we're at it, please upgrade my computer. You said it would not be a big endeavour, so...
