Download vs Move On Complete folders not retained

by jmorgannz on 2025/02/09 01:34:46 AM
Hi there,

Seems to be a bug where if a torrent finishes, the "download" folder is replaced with the "move on complete" folder.
This may seem logical - however if you are purposefully downloading a single file from a torrent at a time, technically when everything ticked is downloaded, that seems to trigger the behavior where the torrent thinks it is "complete" (understandably), and the download folder is replaced with the move on complete folder.

This then leads to the behavior that if you then tick a new file on and resume the download, the file is incorrectly downloaded directly to the move on complete folder.

This is problematic if the reason for using move on complete is that you only want complete files to ever appear in that location.

In my case, I am working on a big torrent, and I download one file at a time; then when its downloaded, I untick it, use Tixati to delete it, then tick on the next one and resume download.

This bug means every time I do that, I have to re-set the download path and the move on complete path.

Is that clear enough?

that is not a bug, the download has finished so the downloaded file/folder has been moved from the downloading folder to the complete folder. that is what is supposed to happen in that situation. if you select another file to download after the torrent has already been completed and moved it will NOT move the file/folder back into the downloading folder.

in settings-transfers-files there is a setting for 'incomplete file name format'. turn that on and that way you can tell when a file has finished.

I will let the maintainers of Tixati answer this. The behaviour is unexpected and does not make sense, therefore I class it as a bug.
There is no reason to update the configuration of the torrent and overwrite the download path with the move to path. Both can be retained in the setting the user specified without breaking any functionality.
Tixati intentionally overwriting a setting a user specified, bypassing user wishes for no actual functional reason, and that also leads to unexpected behaviour, I class as a bug.
I do not need to get into a debate on semantics over whether another guest thinks the behaviour is justified or not.

User here

I've got a download folder called "Tixati Files"
After all the files are downloaded that I have asked to be downloaded the torrent is moved to "Permanent Folder"

If I susbsequently want to download additional files in the torrent I highlight the files inside Tixati, right click "Location" and set it to "Tixati Files" ( One of my favourite folders), then right click on priority and set it to "Normal" ,
Tixati will now allocate the space for these files and download them in "Tixati Files"

After all the files have finished downloading I highlight the files in Tixati, Right click Location and choose "Reset to Default"
Tixati now moves the newly downloaded files to the folder where the originally downloaded files were moved to.
