Port Forward vs Binding to TAP adapter?

by Guest on 2021/01/16 10:19:28 PM
When I selected my VPN's TAP Adapter as the 'local IPv4 address or interface', the speed is either terribly slow, or not connecting to others at all.  So I have to un-choose my VPN's TAP adapter in order to transfer files, which has normal speed.  To limit my exposure, I matched the 'incoming port' to my VPN provider's port forward number, and I also added inbound and outbound rules in Windows firewall so traffic only use the same port. I have checked with IPmagnet and DoILeak test, and confirm my real IP isn't exposed and no DNS leak.  Am I 'safe' this way?  Because choosing my VPN's adapter interface doesn't work for me at all.
