unique file hashes and swarm merging sounds nice. i think it was a main (probably only one) disadvantage when comparing to other p2p protocols like eDonkey, kazaa, etc.

Yeah. It's been mentioned before. I support v2 only and hybrid.

So, will Tixati support BitTorrent v2?

YES, Tixati can support Bittorrent v2, but haven't any prevision because have a lot of other things to do in the development queue. Tixati team are working on many more new features and key improvements. Another release will be posted soon. Please stay tuned.
Thanks for using Tixati!

No official response yet. If yes, it might take awhile.

consider the guest post immediately above to be "official"
It is accurate afaik.
Very little real advantage comes from v2 and it breaks the fabric of the existing swarms. The option for processing both v1 and v2 is available but will cause extra overhead.

Hello,
I've stopped depending on BitTorrent for guaranteed cryptographic integrity, because it uses SHA1, which has been broken once. I know it's not
that
feasible to produce SHA1 collisions currently, but if it has been broken, it's no longer secure.
The news that BitTorrent v2 uses SHA256 completely and that infohashes are SHA256 mean that once BitTorrent v2 is supported, I can rest in peace knowing that a single infohash is sufficient to guarantee the integrity of downloaded files of an entire torrent.
That, and the fact that v2 enables clients to easily implement swarm merging as an in-spec feature, are two amazing features of v2 that I really look towards.
I hope you'll consider the reestablished security of BitTorrent v2 as a major reason to implement it soon.
Thank you for the amazing software! :)

I also want to say I am very interested in seeing a v2 hybrid torrent support. Big step forward for future of bittorrent!
