Auto-Deprioritize Bandwidth

by JoeDowntown on 2020/03/27 04:56:11 PM
I searched everywhere in the forum, and it was one the one setting not documented in the FAQ. If it was and I missed it I apologize.

Has anyone messed with the Auto-Deprioritize Bandwidth setting and seen results?

I was looking all over and couldn't find anything.

I am also trying to understand the implications of changing values in this option.

What do you want to know? It's a protection put in place in case malicious peers want to take up all bandwidth with junk traffic. If X out of N pieces are errors, de-prioritize that peer. If Y out of M pieces (where Y>X) are bad then completely ignore that peer because he's likely a malicious actor.

The default setting is too strict you should raise it if you've a good connection and download some obscure torrents. I had a torrent with 1 seed that had a high error rate but was legitimate (probably simply poor conneciton on his end).
