A false "Self Connect"

by TX007 on 2018/04/14 11:41:59 PM
Hi,
I'm running Tixati 2.57, while connecting to someone who is using the same Tixati version, i got the error message "Self connect", i assume that Tixati thought that client is mine , but how that could happen ?
By the way the ip of that remote peer is located in another country and i'm not using a vpn nor a proxy, so maybe he changed his peer id to mine ? is this a bug from Tixati ?

I just checked the details of the remote peer while i connected to him, and yes he has the same peer id as mine , if i connect to him with a new peer id his peer id change again to become identical to mine , this operation looks automatic.
So is there an explanation for this ?

Most likely he is using some software that does this. A suspicious Bittorrent client I guess or a modified version.

It's one of the many torrent tracking honeypots, I've seen this before. It's not a real client, its a data harvesting bot for lawsuit purposes.
