Usually the internet disconnects because of INactivity.
What happens when you keep the browser open and running ?

It might be a possible DoS Teardrop Attack made by certain peers, at least in my case is that. Only thing I've found to solve this annoying issue is to block the attackers IP and restart the PC. Maybe this is a good reason to improve clients security If its somehow possible (I dont know other clients).
Sorry for the delayed response.
Cheers.

It might also be router overload or your ISP.

jessie - there is a long known issue with tixati that it periodically will cause a CPUsage surge to 100% for 30-60 seconds. During this period, kernel mode CPU resources are saturated causing all TCP traffic to stop (resulting in disconnects/timeouts) and the entire system becomes unresponsive. This condition can be monitored with one of the utilities from IARSN.com, either taskinfo or abpmon. When the CPU graph turns red, nothing you can do but wait it out. I haven't a clue yet what triggers this condition, but it repeats frequently.
