[Feature] Please update folder selection dialogue

by mikeloeven on 2017/08/11 03:41:13 AM
When changing locations or picking the download location I get extremely frustrated with the tree view you chose to use for folder selection. The biggest problem here is that this dialogue is incredibly outdated and very slow in terms of navigation since depending on the structure of your drive you may have to navigate to a rather deep folder which takes is problematic. on windows builds it is more effective to use the native explorer open dialogue because this allows the user to quickly navigate to folders by using the side bar shortcuts or even type the path directly which is sometimes a lot faster than clicking through the tree.

Essentially I am asking you to please replace this

with This
(Pic removed by Mod and sent to devs)

Or if this is not feasible at least add a text box allowing manual path entry

Not just that, pretty much anything the deals with file/folder selection, including when creating a torrent. I believe this has been asked before, the current folder selection dialogue is horrific.

+1

Even better if it remembers the Last Used Folder and the browsing starts there.

In the Add New Transfer dialog, click the Settings button -> Location/MOC Control -> Vertical Layout

Click the Settings button again -> Location/MOC Control -> Editable Full Paths

There you can enter, um, your editable full paths.

The file selection on the Create New Seed dialogue should be improved, there's no editable paths in it.

This is what I was referring to.

Just adding a text field where the user can enter a path manually would fix a lot of the problems

So when can we expect to see this I have a rather complicated filesystem and switching around using a folder tree is one of the worst experiences.
