Type of File Allocation and File System in Use

by Guest on 2017/02/19 06:20:14 AM
Hello,

I've searched the forum for threads regarding file allocation (there are many of them) and couldn't find anything that directly relates to my question.

I currently use Sparse File as my default file allocation. I am planning to use a removable device (USB 3.0) specifically a flash drive (Sandisk Extreme 64GB) to download small torrents in place of my internal SSD. I am not worried about file fragmentation, but just for confirmation, do I need to reformat my USB stick as NTFS to use sparse file? My USB stick is currently formatted as exFAT. Of course, I could just try and experiment if it works but I would like your suggestions or inputs first.

Thanks.

exFAT is pretty much NTFS without logging so it will work

Thank you very much. Stuck with NTFS, so far, so good.
