Prioritize First Last

by rideforever on 2017/02/01 02:27:01 PM
Hi
Great software, thanks.

I just got a BSOD when playing a file that hadn't downloaded first / last.
Is it possible to improve the feature to Prioritize First Last piece.
At the moment you have to make 5 mouse clicks include dragging through one large menu in order to set the flag.
Which is quite a lot if you download 20 files.
Is it possible to set it so that it defaults to on ?
Or to select many torrents together and set it on all the files in those torrents in one click ?
Thanks

Using first and last if not needed is bad for the community so is sequential. That said first and last is only needed for some video files, but not all.
I might suggest that you actually take the time to learn how to use Tixati better because after you get to the file it is simply one right click to change it to first and last and since you can't wait to watch you will likely want to change the priority so it downloads first which is one more right click. Further if you want to do it to 20 files (please refer to above before you do this because you can't watch 20 incomplete files at a time) You would simply select all the files and right click on the group. Do you know how to use the shift and ctrl keys to group select with your mouse?

If I want to set the prioritize flag on a file:

1 Expant the torrent
2 Expand the folder
3 Right click on the file
4 Select Priority
5 Scroll to the bottom set the flag

If I am downloading 50 torrents, then I have to do 250 mouse operations.

Please correct me if there is a shortcut somewhere.

I don't seem to be able to set the flag on the entire torrent and all its files, nor on multiple torrents.

But, with a little change you could turn 250 mouse operations into 3 or 4.

I appreciate that there is a cost to these flags, but it must be minimal for 1% of the file and the value is immense.

I don't seem to be able to set the flag on the entire torrent and all its files, nor on multiple torrents.
For one torrent you can just select all files, then do:
3 Right click on the file
4 Select Priority
5 Scroll to the bottom set the flag

For multiple torrents - using the Tree View.
1. ctrl+a to select all transfers
2. right arrow key to expand all
3. ctrl+a to select all again
4. right arrow key to expand
5. optionally: repeat "ctrl+a, right arrow key" sequence as long as necessary to expand all subfolders
6. ctrl+a
7. right click > Select Files > Priority > Front and Back First > On
8. to collapse all ctrl+a, left arrow key

You can use text/status filters or categories to select only some transfers, then do 1.-8.

Do you really need to download all files sequentially or front and back first?

In fact your method does not work because you may have torrents that you do not wish to set the flag on.

If you CTRL+A you set everything on all torrents.

So ... to use your suggestion, once you have expanded the folders, you would need to scroll laboriously up and down the pane selecting the torrents and files you want, excluding the other torrents, and then setting the flag.  Very error prone.  As the pane has now large numbers of lines of information in it)

And because of the difference in folder structure in the torrents, again scrolling up and down through large amounts of info to find the details.  Very error prone.

Again, a major pain in the backside even worse than my method.

The solution would be to be able to select the torrent itself (unexpanded) and set the flag right there on the group and all files within.

Or to set in preferences to set the flag on all video / audio files.

Although there may be a performance hit, even having a GUI has a performance hit but it is done for the convenience of users, which is the reason for writing software.

IMO

Well, you can use text/status filters or categories to select only some transfers, then do 1.-8 (for example: .mkv search phrase with filter set to File). Even if it is error prone, you don't risk much. Setting complete files to HT/Sequential won't make any difference.

In my opinion it is rarely needed to use HT/Sequential. Downloading everything this way is harmful so I guess current solution, to select the option per file is appropriate. In other words, I think it is made this way intentionally, to discourage downloading everything HT/Sequential.
