[feedback] I want to love Tixati but damn it's annoying as hell

Hello Tixati developers,

I have two things that annoy the living daylight out of me when using Tixati:

1. The constant complaining about not being able to assign a listening port for incoming connections. Is that necessary? I mean after I've been notified once, I think I got the point. I don't need to be reminded every time I start Tixati... that's just abuse.

2. Why is Tixati marking torrents as "Complete - Offline" whenever it encounters a filesystem error? It should definitely have a different status, like "erorr" or "cannot access". And it's at random too, some of them will be Offline, others will say cannot access file & so on. Then when I want to start the torrents that were running before the error occured I won't know which ones are which. Why? Because there's no way to tell which one I stopped myself, and which ones errored out.

FYI, Tixati is accessing its download folder via sshfs because afp, smb are failures between ubuntu and OS X. That means at times the SSH connection will drop (for example when OS X reboots).

And finally, another thing that would be extremely useful is to display the download completion date in the columns, so I can stort them by that. Newest at the top. Right now it's all spaghetti to me. I can't tell you which torrent I added 4 days ago, because nothing gives a hint about that.

Whew! Okay, got that off my chest.

The rest of the software is pure awesomeness. Love the scheduling, filtering capabilities (except the above), the overall UI, channels. Awesome job!

Regarding point "1", IMHO you should consider addressing your port forwarding, instead of questioning a program for warning you that it can't operate properly because of a missing vital aspect needed to do so (would you question a modern car self-diagnosis for warning you that, say, the brakes aren't working and hence you should fix them ?). With that said, you can either simply disregard the log since you already know where that error comes from, or tone down the log contents in Settings -> Event Logging.

Regarding the download completion date, you already have that option; try Layout -> Select Columns -> Completed.

Hi!

Thank you for the reply. #2 was on point, don't know why that escaped me.

#1 however, I'm talking about the dialog opening up. Besides the analogy being ... a little far fetched, although point taken, I cannot fix the port forwarding because that's not in my power. Some VPN services allow port forwarding, others do not.

Mine does, however, I don't know why Tixati isn't able to port forward, while utorrent server is.

Thanks once again.
