Viewing my IP Address in Tixati - Where is Self-Connect?

by searchlight on 2016/12/11 09:15:02 PM
I followed the instructions to view the IP address that Tixati is displaying described in a previous post, and it is confirmed with what my VPN is using.

However, to the left where I see my IP address, I do not see any words "Self Connect" next to it.

What am I missing here in the Peers Tab?

Btw, as a suggestion it would nice to see it displayed somewhere prominently in the gui, in addition to the Peers tab.

Thanks

My guess is that your VPN masking of your IP from your system to the outside is tricking Tixati into thinking it's not "you" in the peer list.

If you want to see self-connect you can manually try adding yourself.
NOTE: You won't always try to connect to yourself. Like pointed out, you using a VPN kinda makes advertising your addy ... pointless?
Remember that once the peers are in the cache you can lose protection by leaking your addy via PEX with other peers or DHT if enabled.
So turn OFF DHT PEX and incoming connections for the VPN.
You verified the IP setup where in Settings??
