Setting to control whether to create a sub-folder

by Guest on 2016/12/01 10:40:58 PM
Hello,

I'm a uTorrent user, but I've recently discovered Tixati and deciding to switch to it completely (since it also supports sequential downloads for files), however I got stuck with a pretty simple problem:
In uTorrent there's a setting:
which controls whether to save the files from the torrent to the destination dir or put them into a folder that will be put into destination dir.

This is very handy, because when I download a season of a series - I do need a sub-folder (and I need the way to name it, right on the window of the 'Pre-Download Transfer Configuration' window), but when I download just a single episode of a series - I don't need a sub-folder for that, I want the video file to be downloaded right into, say, 'F:\Video\Series\Season X' dir, so that if I download multiple per-episode torrents into the same folder - I could switch between episodes in the videoplayer via just next/prev buttons.

Please, regard this as a feature request.

if you select 'auto' in either the pre-load window or in the settings-transfers-files section, that will automatically turn off small files like .txt files and such, and if there is only one file left it downloads it to the main download folder instead of the torrent folder.

in the load prompt you can also set the path to 'editable full paths' and then you type in any path you want.

That's not what I've requested and it doesn't fully replace the requested.

Tixati is not a media center.
You can use the setting described or learn about CATEGORIES https://support.tixati.com/categories
These allow YOU to specify destination folder / complete folder and automate movement.
"Capture" allows you to auto specify transfers which match the name+mask for the category without user intervention.
An ounce of prevention... worth a pound of flesh. If this does not make sense for your request go back to uTorrent and it's spying activities. Tixati allows you to configure nearly every part of the TRANSFER experience. Once you set it up it works.
Or you can do everything piecemeal, that works as well. You can use the Layout/Display button in TRANSFER pane to enable categories in a column for click drag, the sidebar (like utorrent), and the right click menu.

Again setting up categories works well when paired with the internal RSS feature of Tixati.

I didn't request it to become one. But neither tixati is just a torrent/magnet downloader, it is more than just that.

That page contains outdated data. "Add category" windows looks like this to me: https://i.imgur.com/nl9xw8J.png  and it is damn confusing, ugly and is just wrong (as all GUI in tixati).

For what? For torrent as a folder? But what if I don't need a folder for the torrent and would like to extract torrent's contents into specified folder? This feature doesn't help with what I've requested.

Will see how well it works. I have my reasons to doubt it will work well.

Well, for now in the fight between uTorrent and tixati the former wins for me. However, I might as well try other torrent clients among the ones that support sequential download of files.

That GUI is very confusing ugly and wrong, however I'll try to create a few categories and see whether it works for me.

I don't acknowledge RSS. In garbage torrent trackers that I use - it is just useless.
