Possible problem for 2.47,Change location on completed torrent

by Guest on 2016/10/31 09:06:17 AM
Hi,

I was in a situation where I needed to move a bunch of completed torrents. I simply right-clicked the torrent and selected the new location. But right after that, an error message was displayed
edge file missing (force check to override)

So I did and the weird thing is, every single torrent that did this, went from 100% to 99%. How can that be? They had been 100% for days before this..

I don't know what info would be relevant so please just ask what you need to know.

what OS are you running?

what was the status of those torrents when you tried to move them? seeding, standby, stopped?

were they single file torrents (no folder) or multi file?

if multi file, were any turned off?

"edge file missing" .. sounds like you were partial seeding. . . You may have 100% of what you wanted, but did you select all the files?
In FILES tab did you uncheck (priority -> OFF) some of them?

In that case, moving did not include your SETTINGS -> Folders "partial piece" folder which includes partial pieces, dnd_crust, etc
For each file you can have up to TWO partial pieces (for the beginning of the file, and the end of the file).. meaning your piece is the combination of at least 1 file. This is especially true of "tag" files ... maybe they are "myfile.txt" "my_new_file.txt" etc

This is not a bug, but expected behaviour of the .TORRENT specification. Bittorrent doesn't care about the content. It doesn't care about your files. It cares about chunks of data (each piece x piece size.. you see in the main DETAILS tab below each transfer)

To #3, I probably was partial seeding on those.

To #2,
Windows 7 premium
Seeding
Multi file in folder
Probably, .txt, that stuff

I did delete dnd_crust and incomplete_pieces because I was trying out another client because of speed issues and wanted to eliminate if it was vpn, client or something else. I have probably never opened the incomplete folder, so I thought dnd_crust and incomplete_pieces was from the other client. So kudos to tixati for handling all that beautifully. The move function would probably have worked better if I had not deleted those files.

Thanks for the help guys :)

Mods: Feel free to edit the topic, so it doesn't attract unwanted attention. There is no bug on that subject.

:) Glad to figure out the issue. No need to delete, the more you know. Guaranteed someone else will find your issue now with the 99% or 100% -> 99% behaviour.
And learning helps everyone when the questions/ requests/ issues are resolved. :) You can also use your experience to track "regressions"... when something which may have BEEN broken, or didn't "work as intended" may have been fixed, but then broke AGAIN. (2.48 is out now)
