Tixati 2.43 and then ?

by loninappleton on 2016/09/30 08:21:12 AM
Versions have popped up rapidly.  Are the in between versions fixups and 2.47 is a major release?

I am currently on 2.43 but want to stay away from Tx that might fail even though my needs are simple.

I'd say its safe to upgrade to 2.47. its been out for a couple of days now, and the two previous versions were just minor fixes released rather quick.

Give it a week or so, then come back to the forum and check for newly created topics about glitches or regressions in the newer version. If there aren't any (or if the ones there are, are just obvious newbie nonsense), that's probably a good sign that it's safe to upgrade.

I've been using this approach to upgrading any programs I use for years, and it has served me well.

2.44 was alpha testing. Look at the https://www.tixati.com/news/
2.47 is the new stable. If you don't have any problems you don't need to upgrade but it's usually a good idea :D

Ok I've caught up on this and will coast on 2.43

I never can get through reading extensive change lists.

Two things I was looking for were 1.)  a fix of the settings
boxes so that Apply at the bottom appears on my screen rather
than having to change resolutions back then forth again  and 2.)
an auto update which would update the profile for export to a file on a selected interval  (day, week).  Pretty much like changing the port on the home screen.

lonin:
AFAIK for all instances of the "minimum screen size" there is no change for the window sizes.
I do know that "unclickable" can be accomplished by unlocking your taskbar from the bottom (right click - uncheck LOCK) and moving to the side or top temporarily. This would not be a problem if you could navigate with Tab or Ctrl-Tab unfortunately for Fonts the manual textbox can take focus which makes this keyboard workaround moot.

For other things: looking at changelog, not addressed except for settings.dat issues

Brrrr.  No flipping the screen for moi.  I've done that by accident and fretted until I got it right again.

I can chug along the current way but it seems like a solvable
coding job since the Settings pop up in their own window.

Solvable: yes.
On top of the coding pile: no, unfortunately. (as seen from the regular reporting)
I don't recall but I think the minimum size is rather generous. For reference what screen size is this an issue on? 640x360 640x480 1024x768 1280x800

I know it's close on my default screen. But the ability to click-drag any window until the complete titlebar is offscreen, which then causes it to snap is what i do. I'm sure you could also get those extra pixels, if for instance you auto-hid the taskbar.

It's sort of like the dev team knows issues may crop up (many people use multiple monitors, and sometimes the offsets get messed up, hence taskbar icon->layout->reset windows) and adds what seems to make the most sense.

I have to resize from 1024 upward to 1280 to see everything on those settings screens such as Import Export which I do frequently to Export/save for the purpose of keeping my stats.
As I recall without going through it, some have to be okay'ed and others not and you can't tell the difference b/c it's out of the viewable area.
