In the transfer view, could a column be put in to show the directory where the file will go on completion?

It would make it easier to organize

You can set the directories for Categories, if you define them.
Think this way, default setting, default tixati folder\downloads
You can enable Category column in TRANSFERS, on left sidebar, or right click popup menu.
You can setup Categories by right click -> Properties. Lot of cool settings for JUST THOSE transfers you put there.
You want LOCAL FILES tab, then when done click EXISTING TRANSFERS too... should work.
Note I use current stable 2.43. Maybe not working for your version
