"Remove and Delete Local Files" on created torrents

Seriously, this is getting annoying, why can't I remove my created torrents? Should be able to do so, I have to remove the torrent from the transfers list, then I have to manually delete the folder, I am constantly adding and removing stuff that I create, and it's a huge pain in the ass the amount of steps I have to go through in order to delete something, when it should be as simple as clicking on a button, like the added torrents.

Another way - Right-click the Remove button up top of the transfers tab

Not an option, I should be able to "Remove and Delete Local Files"

There's no reason whatsoever for this not to be enabled.

Hi ZarkBit,

I just downloaded the portable version and it works fine for me. You should try the followings:
- change download directory. Maybe some user restrictions in Windows 7 are causing this issue. I suggest c:\users\<zarkbit?>\Documents\tixati_download OR d:\tixati_download (d: drive should be formatted by your windows 7 user)
- Reset all settings in tixati. I did not look up for an option for this, but downloading it again and extracting to a different directory should do the trick.
- try out installing tixati (for last resort, I barely think it would solve your issue)

thx for your reply kisgyerek but I think you misunderstood the issue, I am talking about removing the torrents which were created by tixati, if file permissions would be the issue, then I wouldn't be able to remove any torrent, yet I am able to remove "added" torrents but not torrents created by tixati. This is an issue that exists for quite sometime, and so far hasn't been solved

Take a look at the image to see what I mean

Right Click->Local Files->Delete

Remove DOESNT delete the files.

Works for me.

i think not being able to delete torrents you make is on purpose. i dont think that will change.

Ok, some people are either dumb or just blind, seriously.... the option is enabled ONLY for torrents which were added to Tixati, those that were created through Tixati (the ones that have the yellow star) cannot be removed using the "Remove and Delete Local Files", same thing for the Local Files -> Delete option, if the torrent was created through Tixati it cannot be removed that way.

Seriously, is my English that bad? PMSL

I think it is a good design feature.
Created seeds are special. And YOU have the source files so they are more protected.

If you really want to delete the folder/files, you can.

1] right click on the torrent, then Local Files/Open Folder
2] Remove the torrent from Tixati
3] Delete the folder/files in the file manager at the "open folder" path
4] in your file manager, go to the folder where you save your .torrent files and delete the one you created and then deleted the content for it.

All those many steps when I could just delete both torrent from transfer list and local files with a single click.

To protect my files? That is just stupid, the option clearly says Remove and Delete Local Files doesn't say Click Here for Rainbows. A confirmation dialogue where it would present the torrent name would serve as a clear warning for the user, but not this, this is an absurd limitation, a terrible design feature.

Speaking of protecting my files, Tixati has the ability to send the files to the trash instead of erasing them from the drive, so the user is still able to restore the files from the bin... there goes the "protect the files" argument...

Oh, I totally misunderstood (as the others too).

So, I am not familiar with creating torrents, but just ran through the help of a tracker site. If I understand it well, this torrent you created is not supposed to use for anything but saving .torrent file. If you want to be the seeder, you should upload the .torrent file to your tracker site then download it from there and add the downloaded .torrent file to tixati*. This way the tracker can add your unique user ID, tracker info, DHT enabled/disabled, etc. options to the .torrent file.

* First you have to remove the created torrent, because tixati will merge them. And of course select the correct path so tixati can start to verify the files, also don't forget to set "super" seeding which will force to upload pieces which were never uploaded yet

In my opinion Tixati should not change this "feature". Creating a .torrent file from a folder/file should not have an option to delete them.
Maybe the creating process should be faster by saving .torrent file directly, and not add it to the transfers at all. I guess most users are fine with the default settings.

Btw, english: there is nothing wrong with yours, altough I hope you will understand mine... ;)

This has nothing to do with seeding. I am very familiar with the creating/seeding procedure.

I have few hundreds created torrents in tixati, and cleaning old ones is pain in the ***, I too, dont see how this is "good" design, put there red warning + double confirmation if you really want to be stupid proof, but dont block me from deleting my own files ...
by Guest on 2016/06/22 03:15:17 AM
no one is stopping you from deleting your files, you just have to do it through your OS instead of through tixati.
by Guest on 2016/06/22 09:55:36 AM
we all know it, whole point of this thread is: why we must delete files directly, when client has neat inbuilt function for that ...
by ZarkBit on 2016/06/22 12:12:07 PM
No one is forcing us to delete the files, stop being so ignorant, really, if you can delete the files from added torrents through the Remove and Delete Local Files or Delete context menu option, you should also be allowed the same for created torrents.

Show me a bittorrent client in which you can remove local files of the added torrents, but not the created ones, Tixati is the first one that does not allow this, and there is no technical reason whatsoever for this.

get version 2.43

https://www.tixati.com/download/

From news page:
option in Settings > Transfers > Files to allow file deletion of locally-created transfers

i guess the devs are listening.

If you right click remove instead of remove and delete is the torrent file still listed somewhere or do you just have to remember what you removed?
