Extraneous folders in download locations

by HokieCharles on 2016/03/19 03:50:25 AM
Part I

I have my torrents organized in folders something like this:

Title of work Top-level folder

Volume 1 Sub-folder

• Chapter 1.1 File
• Chapter 1.2 File
• Chapter 1.3 File

Volume 2 Sub-folder

• Chapter 2.1 File
• Chapter 2.2 File
• Chapter 2.3 File

Unfortunately, many uploaders include additional files (.txt, .nfo, etc.) that create folders for the download even when I specifically mark the extra files to not download.

For example, a torrent for Chapter three might contain:

• Chapter 3.1
• Downloaded from.txt
• Chapter 3.1.nfo

Which Tixati bundles into a folder such as Chapter 3.1. I mark the .txt and .nfo to not download, but I get a folder anyway; it gives me something like this:

Volume 3 Sub-folder

Chapter 3.1 Sub-sub folder
– • Chapter 3.1 File in sub-sub folder
• Chapter 3.2 File
• Chapter 3.3 File

If I move the Chapter 3.1 file to the Volume 3 Sub-folder, Tixati can't find it and seeding stops until I restore it to the superfluous Chapter 3.1 Sub-sub folder. I've tried everything I know to identify where the actual file is, but because Tixati sees it as belonging in a folder with the files I did't download, it breaks.

Part II

There are occasions where I want the extra file, just not an additional subfolder. For Chapter 4.1, the torrent might include these files:

• Chapter 4.1
• Chapter 4.1 commentary.txt

I want to download both, but I don't want a subfolder for Chapter 4. I'd rather just have the .txt file in my Volume 4 folder, like this:

Volume 4 Sub-folder

• Chapter 4.1 File
• Chapter 4.1 commentary.txt File
• Chapter 4.2 File
• Chapter 4.3 File

Instead, what I get is this:

Volume 4 Sub-folder

Chapter 4.1 Sub-sub folder
– • Chapter 4.1 File in sub-sub folder
– • Chapter 4.1 commentary.txt File in sub-sub folder
• Chapter 4.2 File
• Chapter 4.3 File

Any help? Or is this impossible?

Thanks!

You can use Tixati's Move function on selected files (right click > Location > Move), to change location to parent folder. After that, when the subfolder is empty you can manually delete it.

Thank you, Pete!

I still wish this could be accomplished via settings during download without the extra steps, but I'm happy my directories will appear as I want them.

Really appreciate the help.
