Peers using IPV6 can't connect

by shag00 on 2016/02/09 01:16:18 PM
I have been using Tixati Ver 2.31 since it was launched and have noticed that I am never connected to an IPV6 address. I get as far as the handshake, a few bytes are transferred and then the connection is lost. I have been watching this closely since I reported the issue with IPV6 black lists (which you fixed)(see http://forum.tixati.com/support/1910/  ). I suspect there is still something wrong with the way Tixati handles IPV6 connections.

IPv6 works fine here.

Some things to remember. ALOT of peers with IPv6 have inbound IPv6 blocked by routers by default.

Also If a peer is connected already with IPv4 they will probably reject an IPv6 connection.

Yes, but to have never connected to an IPV6 peer/seed after 2 months while torrenting every day is a bit strange.

Not really strange at all, especially if your ISP doesn't support native IPv6 and your only IPv6 is from the Teredo tunnel built into Windows (if anything at all).  And there are also ISPs that provide some level of IPv6 connectivity but it's not reliable.

I connect to IPv6 peers all the time in torrents and in channels, ever since my ISP started supporting IPv6 and assigning a native address.  Before that, same thing, I would see IPv6 addresses but they would almost never connect.

I know this thread is rather old, but something I noticed, that was mentioned above, b/c I too am experiencing no IPV6.  However, it's not b/c of Tixati, it's b/c my ISP has NOT implemented IPV6 for home residence.

So to those that might be experiencing NO IPV6, maybe, google your cable company or something like that and SEE if it's implemented or WHEN it will be rolled out - pay attention to residence vs business vs fiber optic, etc...

I had to dig rather deep into my ISP's side of the house to find out, too that they implement IPV6 for Business and Fiber Optic (only @ this time), and residences will SLOWLY be rolled out and that customers who use THEIR equipment will have routers updated to accept IPV6 automatically.

So for now I'm out of luck for IPV6.  It was odd b/c I double, triple checked everything and nothing, the big nothing was a small clue, so I started to look around my router and then thought I better just google around my ISP's homesite and see whats up...

The advice given was to check with your ISP and be sure it's implemented is a good idea.
