Tixati 2.31 continues to download after closing program

by bule on 2016/01/02 07:05:09 AM
Tixati 2.31 continues to download after closing program. Task Manager does not list it as active in either applications or processes.
NetLimiter  shows it as still active taking full bandwidth and modem indicates that it is still downloading something.

if it's not in the task manager, than it's obviously not running, so it isn't downloading or doing anything

what you're seeing is minor residual activity from remote peers, mostly connection attempts and DHT packets ... some other clients will try to re-connect to you for a while

this usually dies down after a few minutes

very unlikely, probably just updating tracker data

On my platform: Windows 7 Pro, Tixati v2.31 does NOT maintain any TCP traffic after exit. If you have set your options on  "Close" to "Hide In System TaskTray" it will remain running in the background. But if you actually "Exit" it should be gone.

If you had lots of connections on Exit, then those will keep trying to connect to your Tixati port for a while but no one will be home to answer the calls.

I suggest you get a VPN. Once you shut that down, your IP changes and this residual traffic goes to the bit bucket.
I just wish Tixati would start my VPN for me when it starts so I don't slip up.

Try the advice in this thread.  You can make it so Tixati won't communicate unless the VPN is up.
