Since Plasma (Next) 5.0, xembed specification for system tray icon is no more supported so you can't use any more the system tray function.
Also a QT (5) version of tixati should be great: a lot of distros use a qt desktop manager like Unity or KDE so a qt version will be fully supported (and more aesthetically integrated).
