Tix doesn't support TLS SNI which is needed for Cloudflare

by Napsterbater on 2015/09/04 08:47:24 PM
I think I found the reason Tixati cannot connect to SSL/TLS Trackers or RSS feeds that are hosted with Cloudflare, it seems to be because Tixati does not support the TLS Extension "Server Name Indication", Cloudflare require this due to hosting multiple TLS sites/certificates on one Port/IP.

When comparing uTorrent 2.2.1's and Tixati 2.16's TLS Hello packet you can see the difference, then I checked with Cloudflare and per their site they require SNI.

Cloudflare isn't the only one that would require this as more and more TLS sites are having to share the same IP's due to exhaustion.

Hope this can make it into the next version.

Just a note for anyone else effected and wondering, this was e-mailed to support@tixati.com

As stated in this post on the fourms http://forum.tixati.com/support/1775/

Tixati cannot work with any Tracker or RSS feed server requiring the TLS Extension: Server Name Indication, the main ones being those hosted behind Cloudflare, although there are more, and will be more as having dedicated IPs for a single a TLS site/cert is becoming harder do to IPv4 exhaustion.

No response yet though, I hope it can make it into the 2.17 alpha.
