Feat Req: Skip Hash Check option.

by Napsterbater on 2015/06/10 08:35:18 AM
When adding torrents for seeding there should be a skip hash check option.

For instance, I just created the torrent with Tixati but the torrent hash is changed so I must re add the torrent to Tixati, now I have to Tix and rehash the the files for a second time even though they are definitely there and correct.

Hash check is required, expert. Hash must always be confirmed, expert. You should know this but you are an expert so I am likely wrong.

Huh, other clients do it just fine, so yes it is possible.

Add a torrent, File already exist, is same size exactly, skip has check done, optional hash check on first read of each peice.

Hi,

if you use several Computers (with different ISPs) and all Computers use the same NAS for the Storage,
it is unnecessary to Recheck all new Files on every System.

System 1 leeched a Torrent 100% and stored it on the NAS.
System 2 wants to seed the 100% completed Torrent from the NAS, why should it rehash the Files ?

Without a "Skip Rehash" Option in the Client, it is useless in such a Network.

Imagine to load over 1500 torrents immediately for seed, how long it will take to doing hashchecking (perhaps some days) or the HDD overload during the hash check till it done.

After all an option (on/off) to this feature it will not bring anything negative to Tixati.

I've wished and required this feature for years but i stopped because never received a definitive answer, since I saw a similar...

+1

Are there any plans for making this feature?
Thanks for any concrete response.

Kind regards

Perhaps the hash check, if needed, could be delayed until there is demonstrated demand or actual activity on a torrent.  Most of my torrents are obscure, often with no other seeds at all. While I might have 1000+ torrents available, there are no more than 20-30 active at any time.

Maybe the hash check could be preformed at first only on the torrents that had a recent "Last Activity" timestamp? And leave the others alone until either rotated in or there is evidence of actual demand.

When firefox introduced TABS and the 'reload last session" option, restarting it with 700+ tabs caused a bit of an overload. Once that problem became apparent, they added a feature to download/update the tabs only when one was selected for view.

I mainly use private trackers, usually have seeders but even if there is zero seeds on a file, I will be the first or the last to add x file one seeding again.

I pretty much understand the complexity of "skip hash checking feature", therefore I suggest that to be an option to use it when we want. I don't want Tixati to make it working in default. Just a box to check/uncheck like uTorrent have.

For me that I have 2000+ torrents to seed this option will help a lot to put them quick on list. If i'm not sure, i always perform hash checking... but if i did one or two time the files is 100% completed.

Reup this topic, I do suggest the same feature to be available; as for an full-featured option for the future, be the data checked by request to piece, if it hasn't been fully checked.

This is nothing strange to implement; the only case it is somewhat impossible, is if the pieces data are organized in a way its not possible with good performance, so has to rewrite the whole piece table algorithm.
