Great client, too bad is banned in all the private sites...

by Guest on 2015/05/12 11:17:50 PM
Hello:

I just started to use Tixati moving out from uTorrent.
Its a great client, probably the best on Windows I've see so far.
I planned to adopt it as my main client, but unfortunately I found out its banned in all private trackers I'm a member of.
Is it possible to make an alternate version with this spoofing features removed?

you can simply add ":header:%0D%0AUser-Agent: uTorrent/2210(25110):peerid:-UT2210-" to end of tracker address

example:

http://trackeraddress.me/announce.php?pid=123456789a:header:%0D%0AUser-Agent: uTorrent/2210(25110):peerid:-UT2210-

Never heard of any private site, that banned tixati.. why would they do that?

if you really need to use private trackers just use the spoofing feature, your private tracker will never know.

Neither did I. The "Tixati being banned on private trackers" is a MYTH.

It's not a myth...
Many high-quality trackers use a client-whitelist, clients that support peer spoofing are never whitelisted.
With peer spoofing you can influence your ratio, which is why private trackers don't allow it.

Ugh, no.  It's quite true. Some do not have it on their whitelist.

That said, tixati seems to be designed for PUBLIC torrents/trackers.  And that's okay by me(I keep a portable copy of qbittorrent around for those "nazee sites")

Peer ID change in Tixati doesn't alter downloaded/uploaded values sent to tracker.

This private tracker you're quoting is absurd. They have blacklisted both Tixati, Vuze and Transmission, the last being the most popular Linux client.

This leaves their clients only with the option of BitTorrent, uTorrent and qBittorrent.

On the other hand, Tixati really has the best performance on public trackers and torrents.

Its definitely true, I haven't seen any private tracker that allows Tixati.
Peer spoofing could be an option but some private trackers are like communities and things usually work better when you respect your community rules.
Its sad because its a great program but got no USS of it as a general purpose torrent client, unless you only use public trackers ...
