I'll second that suggestion.
an option to deselect or select all files in a torrent might be useful in some cases, especially large collections in a torrent.

try using ctrl-a to select all.

Guest #2, the problem is not selecting all the files rather the absence of a command that would then unset the download checkmark to disable downloading.  See Transfers/Files/Download in the Tab View

Select all files, right click, Priority > Off.

You can deselect all files/folders with one click in the load transfer prompt.  Make sure it's enabled in Settings > Behavior > Transfer loading priority/location prompt > Contexts/Conditions.
