New Interface?

by Guest on 2014/01/19 05:15:26 PM
current interface seems old...

how about ribbon interface?

I hope I'm not alone in this, but I like the current interface and default color scheme. Reminds me of WinMX, which I have fond memories of.

i prefer function over form
window dressing is nice but the guts have to work so hope the attention is mostly on the internals of tixati, at least for now.

It is not so muc the appearance, but the function. On the whole I like the look of the interface. But the same thing can do something different whether it is a button or a right-click (I'm thinking of the 'remove' command here - the button is undo-able but the right click is not).
I would rather time be spent under the hood than on the interface itself. One can get used to anything.

I might be interested in giving this a shot if it didn't look like something I would have used back in 1995..
Look to uTorrent for a guide on how to deliver a nice clean UI, nothing else does it better IMO.

I like this interface better than any other bit torrent,, continue and god help and bless you

i like this interface :)

In all honesty, I find Tixati's UI to be quite pleasant to use. I certainly would never ever prefer a ribbon interface over the current interface, but that's my take on it. And as others have said, the current UI is functional enough that development time is more focused on the core of the software itself.

damn.. you guys are so rational!

IMO the interface is just great. The program is so powerful, so full of features and tweaks, yet easy to use.
I think maybe an overhaul of the icons would do great. they look like XP times.

Don't touch the interface...please. :)

Definitely LOVE the current interface, and please DON'T use that ribbon non-sense, UI is beautiful as it is...and whatever uTorrent devs do...you do exact opposite , in terms of UI (and some other stuff)! ;P

Anyway I also understand that most of (younger) users will find current UI a bit old (even intimidating), and that one day you will have to overhaul UI look, so in respect to that I just want to remind you that if you ever make changes to UI please don't forget to leave us the option to use this current old-looking one if possible.
If it were my way, everything would be on a black background, with monochromatic icons (green or red, or orange) and with that cool-color-coded-torrent-name-according-to-its-status...thingy...if you know what I'm rambling about. :D

It may look old, but you should focus on core functions, and leave UI as is.

Keep it simple, but tweakable!  :P

Oh...and God bless you, for doing this wonderful program!

I'd have to agree, whatever the other torrent clients come up with regarding a GUI, do the opposite. Please don't muck up the interface cuz someone else says so. Currently, the tixati GUI does its job rather well. And isn't that what we all want? A job well done?

The devs? can focus on other stuff instead of a GUI!

No need for a new interface. The current one is quiet simple and usable once you get used to it. I like old fashioned interfaces rather than shiny.
I dont like tixati icon though. Conduct an icon contest to make tixati icon better. Its the least i have to recommend about the interface. The devs shouldn't be spending there valuable time just for a user interface.

Generally the interface is OK, but a bit legacy/reminiscent of Windows 98/XP era. It could do with some polish, but it shouldn't become dumbed down. The functionality is just right.
However, I don't like the icon. Of course, you are the developer, it is your program and you can choose whatever icon you want. But the icon really needs improvement if you want the program to stand out more.
I would be happy to help improve the icon if it is deemed necessary. Otherwise, no big deal, the program itself is great, and replaces the now defunct uTorrent for me.

Also, just like pramalot, I find the icons in the interface dated. This should be very easy to improve but it will make a big difference.

I think the icon is great, I really like the minimalist RGB design. I wouldn't change the interface either. I wish one minor adjustment: icons and text on widget style "Horizontal Text + Icon" cold be centered like other ones, now this is the only style aligned to left and I happen to use it.

Linux user say not to a new interface, but what matters is the functionality really.
by Guest on 2014/09/23 05:39:50 PM
what would be nice is that will optimize the interface to be compatible with minilaptops low resolution or small screen

ok, call me frugal... but I don't understand the form over function concerns. Tixati is a utilitarian program and as such the focus is and should be optimizing its features and functionality.

Tixati's contribution to the arts is that it allows you to download aps that can create and edit some fantastic A/V and graphics...then Tixati can share the end result of that process.
