i scoured all the options but i can't find where to set the option on how many ACTIVE DOWNLOADING TORRENTS to have available.
Tixati seems to pick 6, changing the "download slots" option doesn't do anything, what are those slots used for then?

(on utorrent it was easy in the setting i could set how many active DL and how many active UL)

I set both download and upload to 200, then set  Recycle unused download slots for upload. I am nursing 18 orphaned downloads that will likely never complete.. so the other 182 download slots converted to upload service.  

Only about 50 are actually actively uploading data but the rest are on call if there is any demand.

Use: General > Queuing > Download slots. Remember to turn off "Recycle unused upload slots for downloads".
